As always I cannot wait for Oscars night. For the fashion obsessed the award season is when the dresses of our dreams come to life, worn by our favourite stylish stars.  For me, I find it's the chance to evaluate the coming season and answers question which help me professionally. I look to see which direction stylists are turning, which designers do they favour and in turn which stars do the designers celebrate.

It's no secret that what an actress chooses to wear on the red carpet sends a powerful message to the industry. The right dress can elevate a stars status in moments.

This year's red carpet sees the Oscars debut of British actress Felicity Jones, the second, potential, red carpet seal of approval for Mrs Amal Clooney and an opportunity to see what the experienced actresses Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore opt for.

I haven't tried to predict what to expect on the red carpet, instead I have chosen what I would select if it was me assisting with their Oscars moment.  I have chosen gowns and designers that reflect their previous red-carpet options and the stars personal tastes.

When I style for red carpets I go through similar discussions with my own clients. The most important factor when choosing the perfect red carpet dress is how the client feels. If it feels good, it will naturally look good. If it is uncomfortable similarly the discomfort will show. Some people can suffer well, while others are unable. Dressing for the individual is key to red carpet perfection.

I will be commentating on the Oscars red carpet arrivals live on February 22nd, and the good and bad Oscars style will be pinned to my Red Carpet pinterest board
