Thursday, January 09, 2014News hit yesterday that Miley Cyrus is the new face of Marc Jacobs. After my initial shock, I looked over the SS14 campaign images staring the highly controversial singer, shot by David Sims.
The shots are what I call moody, set on a dark beach in LA, and Miley looks deep in thought. The campaign matches the themes of Marc's SS14 show, where models wore dark clothing with a dramatic gothic and Victorian edge.
Marc Jacobs who is friends with pop star explained the idea behind the campaign to WWD: He said, "We wanted this beach with girls kind of sulky and broody, and we thought it would be cool if it was Miley with what could be two friends, feeling distant and quite dark. We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything. There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural".
