This week is Paris Couture Week, as a freelance journalist and not an Editor etc, tickets for Haute Couture shows are like gold-dust. Thankfully I call upon my fashion friends with connections and although I am standing somewhere at the back, or backstage as a few seasons ago, I feel very privileged to be there!

One day, in the not so distant future I shall have my own seat. To celebrate such an occasion, after pinching myself several times, I shall search for someone standing on tip-toes at the back of the show venue struggling to see and swap places, because that's the daydream that plays in my mind everytime I wait for a show to start!

Today marked Donatella Versace's return to Paris Couture Week after an eight year absence.
Model Karlie Kloss opened the show which featured 15 looks, mostly evening wear consisting of the classic Versace corseted silhouettes.  The palette was interesting combining a pearl grey with accents of acid yellow, orange and green.
As always Versace demonstrated their expertise when it came to detail, thin half moon disks held the neckline of a bodice, added structure around the bust, or accentuated the hips. Further definition was added by panels of transparent lace adorning the side or central front and sometimes over-layed a structured corset.

I loved the shoes which echoed the same details as the collection, with flashes of metal  and exaggerated leather tongues which were paired with over the knee lace hold-ups.

It was a very cool couture collection with a prioritisation on contemporary details.
